LOS ANGELES --  First, American DJ brought the classic white pinspot into the 21st century by coming out with an LED-powered version of this popular DJ/club/display effect.  Now the company has gone even further and unveiled two new powerful 3W white LED pinspot models, the Pinspot LED BP and LED Beam Scan, that take the pinspot to places it’s never been before – literally!

In the case of the Pinspot LED BP, this can be anywhere on earth -- from the bed of a pickup truck, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  That’s because this compact 3W LED white pinspot is battery operated, so it’s not limited to being used only in places where electrical power is available.

For the LED Beam Scan’s part, it puts the pinspot in a new type of motion with its impressive panning head, which allows the unit’s bright 3W LED to scan back and forth a wide-ranging 270°.  Featuring DMX-512 protocol, the LED Beam Scan offers other eye-popping effects as well, such as a strobe and 0-100% electronic dimming.

“White pinspots remain one of the most popular lights for entertainment and display because they are so basic, yet so versatile,” said Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of Companies.  “We were reminded of how tremendously popular they are when we introduced our first LED-powered pinspot, the Pinspot LED, which met with amazing success because it combined a classic white pinspot with the advantages of a long-life, low heat, energy-efficient LED light source.   “So we decided to develop additional 3W white LED pinspots with special features geared toward today’s DJs, bands, clubs, mobile entertainers, and retail display and exhibit users,” Davies added. “The battery-powered Pinspot LED BP offers the ultimate in mobility and a much-needed solution for hard-to-light places.  The LED Beam Scan adds the elements of scanner movement and DMX control for greater versatility and excitement.”

With its panning head, the LED Beam Scan can sweep its powerful 3W LED beam across a dance floor, stage, exhibit or grand opening celebration, rev it up with strobing and add some dramatics with dimming.  Or it can be used as a simple stationary spot to highlight performers, illuminate a display, or project onto a mirrorball at a disco.  The coolness of its LED lamp assures that dancers and performers will remain comfortable, and that illuminated objects will not be damaged by heat, even at close range.

In keeping with its versatility, the LED Beam Scan can be operated a variety of different ways: in 3- or 5-channel DMX modes, or without a DMX controller in Sound Active or Master-Slave modes. As another option, it can be run with American DJ’s easy-to-use UC3 remote controller (sold separately) to control blackout and other functions.  For even greater versatility, it comes with a 12° beam angle installed, plus a 6° beam angle lens included in the box.   The LED Beam Scan includes a convenient user-friendly 4-button DMX menu for easy operation, In/Out IEC power connection to daisy-chain power, and multi-voltage operation: AC 100V-240V, 50/60Hz.  Its LED lamp consumes only 15W of power and has an operating life of 50,000 hours.  Compact and lightweight, the unit measures just 6.75”L x 6.25”W x 7.25”H, and weighs 3 lbs.

The battery-powered Pinspot LED BP is the ultimate go-anywhere pinspot.  Great for outdoor events, fashion runways, store openings, exhibition halls and other places where electrical outlets are scarce, it operates on either 8x 1.5V AA batteries or 8x 1.2V Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (batteries not included).  With a 6-8 hour battery life, it can easily handle most concerts and shows without interruption.  Like the LED Beam Scan, it comes with an installed 12° beam angle plus an extra 6° beam angle lens, and has a long-life 50,000-hour LED lamp rating.  Featuring a compact high-tech plastic case design, the Pinspot LED BP is amazingly bright for its size – weighing a mere 2 lbs. and measuring  5.5”L x 4”W x 6”H.

Both the LED Beam Scan and Pinspot LED BP come with a hanging bracket for mounting on truss and can also be set upright on a table or floor.  The MSRP of the LED Beam Scan is $199.95.  The MSRP of the Pinspot LED BP is $199.95.
