LOS ANGELES - Ultraviolet lighting effects have been popular since the days of the “hippie black light.” Now these versatile and dramatic effects have taken a giant leap into the future, with the introduction of the UVLED BAR 16 from American DJ. An amazingly bright DMX-compatible ultraviolet bar, the UVLED BAR 16 is powered by 16 high-output 1W UV LEDs, unlike conventional UV effects, which use a fluorescent light source.

The UVLED BAR 16s powerful LEDs will produce an intensely brilliant black-light aura over a wide area, making it a great wash-type effect for stage performances, theatrical productions, or any special effects installation. Whats more, compared to fluorescent UV effects, the UVLED BAR 16 requires virtually no maintenance, consumes little energy and produces minimal heat. Its long-life LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours and it contains no moving parts, so users wont have to worry about lamp replacements or breakdowns. With a miniscule 30W power draw, users wont have to worry about high electricity bills either. And thanks to the cool running temperature of its LEDs, the UVLED BAR 16 wont make performers hot and uncomfortable under the lights.

Even more impressive are the things the UVLED BAR 16 can do that its older fluorescent counterparts cant. For example, it features 0-100% electronic dimming, which gives users precise control over intensity and fading. It also includes a really cool UV strobe effect - another exciting feature never found on “your fathers” black light.

Another of the UVLED BAR 16s unique features is the rounded wash shape created by its 10° vertical and 40° horizontal beam angle. Because of the configuration of its LEDs, it actually produces more of an oval shape than a rectangle, making it exceptionally well suited for wall washing.

The UVLED BAR 16 can be operated in 3 modes: DMX-512, Sound Active, or Manual.

It can also be linked in multiples Master/Slave via 3-pin XLR cable. A convenient 3-button DMX display is included on the rear panel.

Other handy features on the UVLED BAR 16 include a locking IEC power plug, an On/Off switch on the back, and a flexible dual bracket system that allows the fixture to be hung or set on the ground.
